What Teams Ask Before Automating
Before a Texas team commits to building AI, they want straight answers on cost, privacy, ownership and timing. Here are the questions we hear most — and how owning your automation, instead of renting it, changes each answer.
Why should automation run on a server we own instead of the cloud?+
You buy it once instead of paying per seat forever, and your data never leaves the building. Ownership plus privacy, in one decision.
How much does a typical automation project cost?+
It's quote-driven by scope; we lead with break-even, not a sticker. The recurring cloud fee you avoid usually pays the build back fast — see our main-site pricing.
How long does a project take from scope to live?+
Most first projects run a few weeks: scope and map, build, install on your server, then train your team on-site.
Do we need to buy a server too?+
Often yes, and we can build it through our AI Servers pillar. If you already own capable hardware, we deploy onto that.
What if we're not sure what to automate?+
We start with a workflow-mapping session and our "5 Workflows to Automate First" guide to find the fastest payback.
Will this lock us into your company?+
No. You own the code and documentation. We're here if you want us, not because you're stuck.
Can private AI really match cloud tools on quality?+
For most business tasks — chat, extraction, routing — open models on the right hardware are more than enough, and they're tuned to your data.
Who maintains it after launch?+
You can, with the runbook we provide, or you keep us on an optional support plan. Either way it's a phone call, not a ticket queue.
Do you work on-site in the Houston area?+
Yes. We scope, install and train in person across Houston and Fort Bend County.
Does any of our data get sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google?+
No. We build on open models that run on hardware you own, so prompts, documents and answers stay on your server and never reach a third-party AI cloud.
Where exactly does our data live?+
On the box we install in your building. The model, the documents and the automation all run there, on your own network.
Is this okay for HIPAA or other regulated data?+
Keeping data on hardware you control is the foundation regulated workloads need, which is exactly what a private build gives you. The full compliance discussion — HIPAA and beyond — lives in our security pillar.
Can the AI act without a human approving it first?+
Only where you allow it. We build human-in-the-loop controls so low-risk steps can run automatically while consequential actions pause for approval. You set the line.
Do I actually own the AI system, or am I renting it?+
You own it. The hardware is yours, the software stack runs on it, and you get the source and documentation. There is no per-seat or per-token subscription after the build.
What is RAG and do we need it?+
RAG (retrieval-augmented generation) is how AI answers from your own documents instead of generic internet knowledge — it retrieves the relevant passages and answers from them, with citations. You need it whenever the answer lives in your files. Our RAG for business page is the full explainer.
Which vector database will you use — pgvector, Qdrant, or Chroma?+
It depends on your data volume and what you already run — pgvector if you are on Postgres, Qdrant as the collection grows, Chroma for a fast prototype. Our vector databases and embeddings page walks the trade-offs.
Do you use n8n, and can it be self-hosted on our hardware?+
Yes. Self-hosted n8n is our workflow orchestration engine; it runs on your own server so your data and logic stay in the building. See our self-hosted n8n workflow automation page.

Answers in person, across the Houston metro
Most of these questions get easier over a whiteboard. We scope, install and train on-site across the Houston metro and Fort Bend County, then stay a phone call away. See our Texas service areas.
Still have a question we didn't cover?
Tell us the busywork you want gone. We'll scope a private AI build that runs on a server you own — no per-seat pitch, no pressure.
